Château de Francs is a project that unites Dominique Hébrard, former owner of Château Cheval Blanc, together with Hubert de Bouard, owner of Château l'Angélus. In collaboration they planted Merlot 70%, Cabernet Franc 20% and Cabernet Sauvignon 10% in the vineyard. The wine is classically made in the grand tradition of Bordeaux, and aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. In the glass the colour is a deep, brilliant purple. On the nose there are beautiful aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry, toasted spices, and a hint of smoke. On the palate the flavours are complex and concentrated with dark fruit and lovely hints of vanilla, chocolate, toffee and coffee. The tannins are extraordinarily silky, and the wine has a long savoury finish. The wine offers a unique opportunity to taste the fruit of the collaboration of two iconic Bordeaux wine makers. This wine won the Silver medal at the 2016 Concours de Bordeaux.
Food pairings include pigeon, Peking duck, braised goose web.
