Château Alcée is owned by the esteemed Nicolas Thienpont, the wine maker behind numerous legendary estates including Château Pavie Macquin and Château Larcis Ducasse. This red wine is a blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc from some vines over 50 years old. The aromas include ripe berries, minerality, luxurious violets, liquorice and hints of spice. On the palate the wine is rich, densely textured with fine, ripe tannins that lend a beautiful structure to the wine. These tannins are balanced by the Thienpont signature acidity that give the wine refinement and precision. The wines are aged 16-18 months in both 225L and 500L barrels.
Food pairings include roast beef, suckling pig, braised beef, claypot rice with preserved meats.
