La Capitelle de Domaine de Baronarques is a selection from the estate owned by the Rothschild family of Château Mouton fame. It is produced in limited quantity in the Limoux region in the South of France. The name, Capitelle, is a reference to the dry-stone huts built by the region's vine growers in the 19th century. The wine is a blend of Mediterranean varieties (Syrah, Grenache and Malbec) and Atlantic varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon).
The expressive and intense nose offers a pleasant array of roasted coffee and liquorice notes, then opens up to fruity, blackcurrant and cherry brandy aromas. From an attractively fresh and expressive attack, the wine develops a compact, full bodied and harmonious structure with perfectly integrated, silky tannins and controlled acidity. The long and expansive finish is set off by juicy, ripe fruit. A wonderful introduction to the precision, elegance, and sumptuousness of the team at Château Mouton.
